The Hall of Fame is located in the hallway outside the Roy Williamson Performing Arts Center.
Induction occurs in the fall usually during the weekend of the first HOME football game. The inductees are introduced during halftime at the game on Friday night. On Saturday there is an alumni association sponsored luncheon in the high school cafeteria where the inductees are introduced and speak before friends and family. (check back for the exact dates and times)
In order to be considered for the Hall of Fame, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
*Alumni – Must have graduated a minimum of ten (10) years ago
*Administrator/Faculty/Staff – Must have served a minimum of ten (10) years and have been retired for at least five (5) years
*Community Honorary Member – Must have made a significant voluntary contribution to the betterment of the Anthony Wayne schools.
There are 158 members of the AW Hall of Fame as of fall 2021.
2026 Hall of Fame Inductees
Matthew Mauro (Class of 2007)
Matthew Mauro is a 2007 graduate of Anthony Wayne High School. During his time at AW, he participated in symphonic band, marching band, jazz band, various honor ensembles, the Toledo Youth Orchestra, and music composition contests.
Since graduating, Matthew has earned a Bachelor of Music Education from The Ohio State University, a Master of Music in Horn Performance from the University of Georgia, and a Doctorate in Horn Performance and Music Theory from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
Matthew is currently Principal Horn with the Lima Symphony Orchestra. He is also a private horn and piano instructor, serves as Music and Choir Director at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, and continues to work as a freelance hornist through guest and substitute orchestral performances.
Matthew continues to share his passion for music through performance and education.
Lisa Schaller (Class of 1981)
Lisa Schaller is a 1981 graduate of Anthony Wayne High School. She was raised in a family deeply rooted in the community, which helped shape her commitment to education and community service.
Since graduating, Lisa has proudly served in the U.S. Army. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from ITT Technical Institute and a Master of Technology Management in Construction Management from Bowling Green State University.
Lisa continues to teach and mentor students across the area through her role as an Assistant Teaching Professor at Bowling Green State University. In addition to mentoring college students, she supports technology and STEM education for students from elementary through high school. Lisa is passionate about providing meaningful experiences for the students who will become our future leaders.
Lisa serves her community through leadership positions with many organizations, including the Anthony Wayne Alumni Association, Generals for Generations Foundation, Anthony Wayne Area Chamber of Commerce, Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, Wood County Parks builds, and the AWHS Career Fair.
Lisa resides in the Anthony Wayne area on her family farm. Her daughter, Keirsten, is a 2026 graduate of Anthony Wayne High School.
Steve Mossing (Educator, Coach & Athletic Administrator)
Steve Mossing spent his whole teaching career of 35 years at Anthony Wayne Schools as a Physical Education Instructor, Coach, and Athletic Administrator, from 1976-2011. His coaching duties included football, basketball, tennis, and 30 years as the Boys Varsity Golf Coach. He served 15 years as an Assistant Athletic Director, and 1 year as Athletic Director.
After his retirement, Steve continues to serve AW as he works to organize the boys and girls NLL Golf Tournaments and supports the OHSSA basketball tournament and other events.
As Steve says, “Teaching gave me satisfaction watching students and athletes mature and grow into fine young adults. AW Schools provided me with the necessary tools to continue to evolve into a dedicated and compassionate educator.”
His dedication to students, pride in our community, and a genuine passion for helping others succeed truly set him apart. He cared deeply about his students, not just as athletes or pupils, but as individuals with potential, purpose, and heart.
During his career, Steve began a signature “HAPPY FRIDAY” message each week to his email list. Now 15 years after retirement, many still receive this small, yet powerful reminder of Steve’s positivity, humor, and care. He still shows up, still gives back, and still lifts up those around him.
Debra Thompson (Class of 1980)
Debra Thompson, AWHS Class of 1980, was active in the FFA, the Pep Rally Team, and 4-H in Lucas County. After graduation, she started a career in floral design with Ken’s Flower Shop, and launched a successful balloon and floral decorating business. In her first year as a business owner, she decorated seven high school proms, and was chosen by AW’s Prom Committee for multiple years as their go-to for design and decoration.
She became a Tupperware Manager at the age of 20 and she advanced to sales supervisor positions with other companies, until a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis forced her retirement at the age of 55.
However, this led Debra into the next phase of her life, which encompasses community leadership and advocacy. Today she serves as Team Leader of the Transportation and Mobility Action Team for the City of Bowling Green; Chairperson of the BG Sidewalk Commission; and member of the Transportation Advisory Committee.
Debra says, “AWHS taught me to be involved, to work with others, to lead when needed, and to persevere when faced with challenges.” She is a true example of the Generals spirit. Turning personal experience into a commitment to improving life for others.
Charles Wiedie (Class of 1986)
Charles Wiedie graduated from Anthony Wayne High School in 1986 and received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The Ohio State University in 1992. He attended the University of Toledo College of Law, graduating magna cum laude in 1995. He was commissioned in the United States Air Force for a 30-year career that took him around the world as a military judge and judge advocate, earning numerous servive awards, decorations, and achievements.
At AW, Charles was president of his class and captain of the baseball team during his senior year. However, he credits coaches, teachers, and administrators as the people who taught him the most about leadership.
Charles says, “Through hindsight and maturity, I am able to look back at my time at AW and better appreciate how my experiences there shaped my future decisions.”
Charles lives in Kailua, Hawaii, where he continues to serve as an attorney advisor to the U.S. Marine Corps Defense Services Organization a role he has held since 2024. He is still passing on those positive experiences he gained as a General to the next generation of leaders.
Kevin Click (Class of 1979)
Kevin Click, Anthony Wayne High School Class of 1979, attended The University of Georgia where he received a BBA in International Business and Spanish. He spent 28 years based around the world with Altria/Philip Morris International, retiring in 2014 as Senior Vice President of Human Resources.
He has served in board positions for the Rotary; the International School of Lausanne, Switzerland; the Asheville (NC) Art Museum; and Boy Scouts of America International. Today he remains on the Board for MANNA FoodBank in Asheville, and serves as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.
Kevin says, “AWHS gave me role models, a spirit of service, and examples of leadership grounded in humility. Those experiences helped to shape the person I became and inspired a lifelong commitment to giving back.”
Kevin resides in Asheville, NC, and continues his commitment to “helping friends, family, and neighbors.” For Kevin, it is simply what one does.
